A class of wine: JMU class exposes students to wines from around the world

The small hallway outside of room 384 in Godwin Hall overflowed with the sound of small talk and weekend anecdotes as students waited for class to start. The doors opened and the students piled into the room, chatting while they found their seats. A crisp “pop” sounded from the corner of the room and two Aramark employees began pouring sparkling wine into the glasses that sat on top of each student’s desk.

Big Sean sells out Convocation Center with UPB spring concert

One top-charted hip-hop artist, 3,254 tickets, 80 University Program Board staff members and 16 hours of preparation.

Students flooded the Convocation Center Thursday night for the annual UPB concert, and Big Sean’s high-energy performance made it a memorable one. Dance-offs in the pit, crowd surfing, the classic college “USA” chant and an on-stage lion mascot cameo proved the night a success.

The snowstorm that hit the northeast late last week couldn’t stop The Wood Brothers from taking on the Big Apple Friday night. New Yorkers strapped on their snow boots and made the slush-filled trek to Webster Hall in the East Village of Manhattan, filling the historic and intimate venue to the brim to hear the trio’s tangy harmonies and dynamic folk tunes.

“Five-six-seven-eight,” line dance teacher Olivia Ray said into her microphone, her voice echoing through the auditorium of the Dayton Learning Center. Her instructions rang out in a rhythmic tempo as she spewed a litany of dance steps and moves to the dancers lined up behind her. “Everyone got that?”
